Pro-97 Programming Trouble :(

I have a new to me Pro-97. I even have the pc/if cable.

I cannot get it to communicate with the computer at all.
Ive tried the software that it comes with, Scanncat lite, and Win 97

Which cable do you have? You will need either the 20-546, the discontinued 20-047 or the GRE equivalent if your computer doesn't have a serial port (and new ones don't). These are USB converters. You must load drivers for it, then use Windoze Device Manager to make sure you have allocated a port that is actually available. This is discussed in detail here...(all links are blue)

Oh and I almost forgot - use the Scancat program for a coffee mug holder...not for anything else....
