pro197 question

Recently my pro197 stopped receiving local police fire transmissions. I went to broadcastify and that was working. I noticed the feed was recently updated and mentions new "800 radios" and it has joined p25 digital system. I logged into radioreference with arc 500 (after doing firmware updates to scanner) and imported using rr database my county and still not hearing local police while i can hear them thru the app on my phone. Is this scanner not capable of listening with new setup? Or is there something i am missing? Any help would be great been at this a while now.

We need to know your city, county, and state and systems you want to monitor to determine if your scanner is capable of monitoring the system. I use ARC500 also. If you attach your programming file, I will check it for problems. You will need to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.

did you import the control channel(s) as well? it's not enough to just import the talk groups. and if your system has upgraded to phase 2 you are out of luck with the 197.

These are the talk groups listed in the broadcastify description-

This feed will normally consist of the following:

Police:
423.625mhz: Macedonia (4xx), Northfield Vilage (8xx)
TG 62759 - Macedonia PD Dispatch (Sagamore, Macedonia)

Fire & EMS:
423.9500mhz: Macedonia (22xx)
TG 62759 - Macedonia Fire Dispatch
TG 43024 - Northfield Village Fire Dispatch

I added the needed control channels for summit county and the talk groups. It shows phase 1. Not sure if i should manually add instead of using the rr import? maybe something getting lost in the process.

The pro 197 will work for P25 phase 1&2 systems. I have a pro 197 that receives both in my area just fine. It's all in the programming. I use WIN 500 to program mine and it works great.

the 197 is a phase 1 radio but if some users/radios on a phase 2 system are set to phase 1 the 197 will decode.

The pro 197 will work for P25 phase 1&2 systems.

The Pro-197 is capable of P25 Phase 1 only. It cannot decode P25 Phase 2. If a talkgroup Mode is D, you can receive it. If Mode is T, that is Phase 2 and you will not be able to receive it. If Mode is DE or TE, it is fully encrypted and no scanner is capable of decoding it. De and Te are partially encrypted.

Thanks to everyone that read and gave some info/input on this, and a special thanks to tvengr he created a file using a nearby county (Cuyahoga) marcs-ip and im able to receive radio traffic now!

Hi there, I'm new to scanning and I live in northern Summit County. I'm looking to listen to Macedonia, Northfield and Sagamore Hills also. I'm not having very good luck. What I do get is audio that's chopped up and very garbled. NCS500, did you say that you were able to resolve the audio issues?

No... Not resolved I am able to hear some traffic for Macedonia etc off of the Marcs Cuyahoga tower(s). It worked ok the first day and since has been hit or miss. I am still trying to find a solution. What scanner are you using?

I'm in Sagamore Hills, and using a RS Pro197. I just put up a new antenna, new coax to the radio and was hoping for good things. Didn't happen,

I have been working on this issue with some other helpful members of the forum. I have a feeling your probably close to me. I did a little experimenting driving with scanner and started getting ok Radio traffic once I was east of route 8 on route 82.
