Greetings all, 1st off very cool site.................Anyway I was wondering about the 96 vs 97...........I live in Northeast Pa. How come I cant get the state police frequencies on my 97..........In the database section of this site it says Pa has switched to OpenSky digital....will the Pro 96 get these freqs.?

Comparing the Pro-96 and the 97 is like comparing apples to oranges. The 96 will do Apco compliant P-25 digital systems, 3600 and 9600 baud rate, and the 97 is not a digital capable scanner. However, the thing the 97 has going for it is the milair capapbility already installed so no magic software is needed. It does great in that aspect. Is also good on conventional frequencies. I have yet to try the analog trunking portion so i can't speak for that.

I have used Pro-97 on just one Ltr system and it works extremely well. Am going to try another system now. Will post if there are any problems.

It is Interesting that the Pro-96 Is the best Handheld out with Digital, Whats weird is there numbering Youd think the Pro-97 would be better but it isnt at all, Its like above apples, oranges, pears, lemons, peaches, grapefruits etc. lol 
(FYI- Wow, Radioshack after Christmas raised the price of the Pro-96 back too 499.00US WOW !, I'm glad I got mine while they were on sale right before Christmas, They were 399.00US !
