Hello all,

I received my AnyTone DV-878UV last Friday. The radio has the latest firmware installed. I received my DMR ID from radioid and i have a valid account with Brandmeister. I have also installed the latest software (1.21) to program the radio. I have successfully programmed the radio with the DMR ID, and i have also programmed the analog portion with the repeaters and all and that part is working.

Per Bridgecom videos, i have downloaded the contact list (csv file) from radioID and i've downloaded the talkgroup list (csv file) from brand meister. I have followed the procedure to import both files into the programming software it appeared to have worked successfully (no error message during import) however i dont see any talk group.

Here is a screenshot after importing the contact list:

After importing the talkgroup list i was expecting to see something here, but it's empty.

I then looked at the CSV file:

I thought that column D was a bit strange so i deleted it, save the file and tried to import it again but to no avail. I then notice that the values in row one do not match the headers in the software, i tried to modify that also but again to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

The file you downloaded for the talkgroups is nowhere close to the format needed for the Anytone 878. Remember that there are a lot of different radios out there, so chances are that many of these downloaded files are not specifically formatted for the Anytone radios.

There are 5 colums:

No., Radio ID, Name, Call Type, Call Alert

For example:

1, 91, WORLD, Group Call, None

Thanks, i did find a csv file formatted as you explained and it worked. Unfortunately, after verification in the repeater book, there are about 30 DMR repeaters in my province, 6 of them are local and none of them are on the BM network, they are on the DMR+, DMR-MARC, DMRQC or a combination of those. I was able to find a properly formatted CSV file for the DMR Talkgroup and was able import it into the programming software and write the info into the radio. The journey continues.....

Your CSV file is going to need to match your radio format exactly or you're going to have problems. A good way to determine the format you'll need is to enter a few talkgroups and contacts manually (starting with an empty file) export it and note the format. Perform the surgery needed on the file you'd like to import accordingly. Also, keep in mind that while it's nice to have, you don't need to import the user database. Incoming calls will just resolve to user IDs on you screen. You don want the talkgroup IDs you intend to use though and there will be much fewer of those.

Anymore, I don't bother with importing the user database. There are some people I speak to on a regular basis and I enter those names/IDs into my CPS manually. Keeping on top of repeater and talkgroup changes is enough administrative fun for me.

Or do it the easy way with the N0GSG DMR Contact Manager N0GSG DMR Contact Manager Support Page
Read the docs with it... with the AnyTone 868 and 878 you will need to use the CPS Tool->Export Data Conversion File command to produce a DCF file from your existing codeplug readable by Contact Manager. However, once you have it in Contact Manager, and finish your changes / additions (e.g. from the RadioID db) and save the file, you can read the DCF file back into the AnyTone CPS as you would any other codeplug.

Thanks for the info, i must admin i'm struggling big time over this DMR stuff. I got the contact list and the talk group for DMR-MARK loaded in the radio.

In the programming software, i'm trying to create a digital channel for a local repeater. This is the repeater i'm trying to use:

repeater

Now, as you can see, the repeater page does not indicate which time slot to use, and it does not list the available talk groups on that repeater. So when creating the channel, i have the following windows in the programming software:

The highlighted info was found on the repeater page. When i click the contact button i have the contact selection Window, how am i suppose to know what to choose ? moreover how am i suppose to know what going on on a particular talk group ?

I had to dig to find the talkgroups assigned on the VE2RCM DMR repeater (you think they'd put it on the repeater / club's webpage) but no, it is a link that eventually leads you to the RadioID webpage and their repeater listings. Here is what shows up for VE2RCM -

DMR-MARC Canada
Montreal, Quebec

Time Slot #1 - Group Call 1 = World Wide
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 13 = WW English
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 11 = WW French
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 3 = North America
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 302 = Canada
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 310 = TAC310
Time Slot #1 - Group Call 9999 = Audio Test
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3023 = Ontario
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3022 = Quebec
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3024 = Manitoba
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3026 = Alberta
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3029 = New Brunswick
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 3027 = British Columbia
Time Slot #2 - Group Call 2 = Local
