I have 3 questions:
I have a PRO-668 handheld trunking scanner. It was modified and boots up with the WHISTLER logo. I think I saw version 2.5 or similar in the EZ-Scan software

1.) How do I know if that person had AUTHORIZED Firmware [loaded by Whistler tech] or if he did it himself? Is there a way to tell?
2.) I am running EZ SCAN. Is there any OTHER software that perhaps would work better with this (now 'Whistler') radio?
3.) Is this RS radio still considered a ""PRO-668"" or does it now appear to programming packages as something else? I'm hoping it looks like 'something else' since I don't see the PRO-668 listed on the RR section about available software, compatible with the RR download methods. In fact, I don't think EZ Scan is listed in that section as compatible.

I keep running into roadblocks with Whistler website (error 11001) and I am not yet very well versed on setting up this radio ..and DMR in general. e.g.= what is a V-file??
I would LOVE to be able to use MS Excel and .CSV files; but I can't find a way to import/export the comma separated database format to the radio.

Also:
Anyone willing to contact me by phone please PM me.

Thanks for reading this,

Regards

CPU firmware 2.5 was the latest update for Radio Shack. While holding the MENU button, plug in the USB cable. If boot loader is 2.0, it has the official upgrade. If not, it is hacked. Press the MENU button again to exit.

Which version of EZ Scan are you using? You should be using the newest version of the WS1080 software available HERE

I would LOVE to be able to use MS Excel and .CSV files; but I can't find a way to import/export the comma separated database format to the radio.

In order to import from a CSV file you first need to download the format from the EZ Scan where ever you want to import (IE conventional, Talk Groups, etc) then use that format to import, otherwise it won't work.

I keep running into roadblocks with Whistler website (error 11001) and I am not yet very well versed on setting up this radio ..and DMR in general. e.g.= what is a V-file??

Perhaps this will help

You don't import an Excel file or .csv into the radio, you copy the info into the EZScan software which uploads it onto the SD card in the radio.

If you are proficient with Excel you can build scanlists with all the details much quicker than using EZScan itself.

I use Excel CSV files all of the time to load frequencies, talkgroups, and scan lists into the EZ Scan software. I do conventional frequencies and talkgroups separately. For talkgroups, click on a system and the Talkgroup Details tab. On the right side of the page, click on Import from Text File and open the CSV file. You will be able to select fields for Talkgroups, Alpha Tags, Scan LIsts, etc.
