I have a GRE PSR 800 scanner. I programmed in talk group #47152, which is the number for the TDOT Help Trucks in Nashville. The scanner pauses and flashes a "700" MHz VC or CC, (too fast to make out the frequency), like it is trying to pick up the transmission, but it won't stay on it, and then resumes scanning. I'm not having any trouble picking up Nashville THP, Dispatch 1 or Chattanooga THP, Dispatch 1. I have checked all the settings on my scanner and verified I have entered all the sites in the area, with the control and aux. control channels. The only difference I see in the RadioReference database is that the mode for THP is "D" and for TDOT it is "T" which stands for TDMA Capable. I thought this scanner was capable of receiving TDMA 1 and TDMA 2. Any help in resolving this problem would be appreciated!

Not sure if the PSR800 is 100% on the new P25 Phase 2. I am sure you are running all the updates to the scanner. Maybe someone with a PSR800 will chime in.

Thanks for the reply. I think PSR 800 is 100% TDMA 2, because when THP switches to Dispatch 2, I think it is TDMA 2, but encrypted! Also, during the Bonnaro celebration I was picking up the TDOT Help Trucks that had come over from Chattanooga. When I go to Nashville again, I'll see if I can pick them up then. The experience I described in my post was traveling through Rutherford County.

FOLLOWUP: I did notice that the scanner only displays a "VC" frequency. Normally, the display alternates between "CC" (control channel) and "VC" (voice channel).

Does anyone know if the Nashville TDOT HELP Trucks are on the TACN, TG #47152, or are they still operating on VHF 151.13?

Haven't heard a peep on VHF in several weeks. They and Nashville Airport went pahse 2 about the same time. Looking more and more like upgrade time.

Have you heard them on TACN at all? If so, can you advise their talk group number?

UPDATE: I just purchased a new Whistler 1088, to replace the PSR GRE 800, and it is receiving the TDOT trucks loud and clear on Phase 2 (D2). (Evidently my GRE PSR 800 was just not receiving TDMA Phase 2; I guess that's why it was only displaying the VC only.)

Just for the fun of it.
Buy a new SD card program it with your software and replace the card in you PSR-800 my RS-18 will stop receiving from time to time and that will fix it.

I replaced and programmed the SD card, but the GRE 800 does not receive the TDOT Help trucks. I also purchased a WS 1088 and set it next to the 800. The WS 1088 receives this talk group great, while the 800 will only display the VC with no sound. The WS 1088 shows both the CC/VC and also shows it is D2. This leads me to believe that my GRE 800 does not receive D2, but, other than, receives well on the other conventional and digital transmissions. Any ideas on what the problem might be, other than what I've mentioned above?

Did you update to the last firmware update, and other updates that were released before GRE went away? Make sure you have the last available firmware and DSP etc...
