I have had my 396t scanner running with ARCPRO Software for a couple of weeks and I just unplugged the patch cord from the headphone jack and now my audio coming out of the scanner is distorted/tinny, I can hardly understand the audio. I tried to re-set the scanner and this did not fix the problem. Why would this happen just because I had the patch cord in the headphone jack. Is there any fix for this.

put the plug back in and insert and insert several times. There have been reports of the inner workings of the plug sticking together or remaining in an open setting.

I have this problem as well. As teufler has suggested the solution is to insert and remove the plug several times. So far it always works.

I had this happen several months ago and when I unplugged the cable from the jack I had no audio coming from the scanner radio and I inserted the plug in and out of the jack several times and that fixed it. I have tried that again and it's not fixing the problem, I will keep trying and if it does not work I will send the scanner in to be fixed. thanks for the information everyone.

a cheap base

just plug in some computer speakers and make it a base.
when it happened to me that was my first thought, but after a couple of tries it started to work.

Would rather just get it fixed so I don't have to put up with this, thanks for the info.
