collapse: Maybe use dashes to force indents for readability.

I actually have 9. I just didn't mention them because it would get too confusing. I wanted Fire, Police, Sheriff, & EMS in its own folder.

When you say folder, do you mean Favorites List or Department or System?

Programming

Problems like this is the reason I was told to program with ARC536. No issues so far.

Any SW would have the same issues if you programmed it the same.

I'm guessing I mean Favorites List. I clicked on New Favorites List. I didn't see anything to click on for Dept. or System

SW?

Systems are the next level within a Favorites List.

Departments are the next level within a System.

Channels are the lowest level, and are withing a Department.

So what is displayed on a 436 screen is:

System
--------------------------------------
Department/Site
--------------------------------------
Channel

?

There's also smaller text at the bottom of each "sub window"...where does that come from?

The manual seems to show 536 screen shots and not much for the 436...

Very close. I would type it like this:

System
Favorite List
--------------------------------------
Department
Site
--------------------------------------
Channel
UID
TGID

In the above example, the first item is in larger text, and the others are in smaller text.

If I were designing it, I think I would have the items in a slightly different order for better flow, but it is what it is.

Sorry for taking so long to get back. Thank you everyone who helped out!

Now how do I get out of MONITOR WEATHER?

I clicked on SETTINGS then EX OPERATIONS then WEATHER SCAN and now I can't get out of monitoring weather. Pressing Menu once goes back to SETTINGS, Pressing Menu twice goes back to MONITOR WEATHER.

Forget my previous post. I was able to get around it.

Now I have 2 more questions.

1. How long should you charge the scanner for? You can set it for up to 14 hours?
2. Is it possible to have the battery icon appear all the time?

The shortest I have charged mine with decent results (six hours of monitoring) is four hours. I plan to play around with it one of these days to see how much charge it will take to get to 10 to 12 hours of montoring. I do not use the battery icon. If you think yours is confusing, Harris County (Houston) has overlapping phase 1, simulcast and phase 2 systems. Some towers even have two systems. You have to study the departments closely to know the area of coverage and who is on which system and tower.

On the WX, the "proper" way to exit is FUNC-SYSTEM.

Initially, you should charge the clock battery for 50 hours straight. Do this by running the scanner from an AC source. Optional volume to 0 if you don't want to hear it.

I would recommend charging the regular batteries outside the scanner.

No AFAIK on the icon.
