attached is crypt_behavior 0 with -v 11 During this short example the audio was quiet except for a couple of chirps. There were 5 or 6 encrypted trunk groups/transmissions. however i cant tell you which ones had chirpedA

There were no transmissions found in your log that were in the clear. All logged audio frames (LDU2's) were marked as having AES256 encryption. You can expect to hear garbled audio or chirps with crypt behavior set to "0" when you don't have any matching keys for a given algorithm in use. Further, op25 usually doesn't capture most HDU/MAC-PTT that can result in audio bursts until the next algid is decoded even
when crypt behavior Option 2 set.

If you think this system has any groups transmitted in the clear, then either whitelist those groups, or blacklist those that known to be ncrypted
and be done with it.

i think there are not any clear groups only sporadic users who for what ever reason aren’t encrypting their transmissions. However on the other side of the conversation it is encrypted, so I only hear half the conversation when a clear transmission is heard.

hopefully a final question:
are the TDU15 messages part of OP25 standard or are they part of the boatbod processing of OP25 messages.
is there any documentation here or external that would be helpful in understanding what is in the v 11 logs?

The short explanation

The "Terminator Data Unit" (TDU) is part of the P25 protocol standards. It's a sequence of frames transmitted at the end of a transmission (call) during an idle hang time period that not only signals the end of transmission, but it also serves to keep receiving radios synchronized at the ready to receive the next call, should one occur prior to the expiration idle time period.

TDU's can be simple terminators or may contain link control information. If interested, you can learn more here: P25 Training Guide.

TDU3 & TDU15 are P25 Phase 1 (FDMA) messages that op25 receives from the RFSS (i.e. received over the air). Both messages mean the voice transmission is ending, but the TDU15 also means the network is about to hang up and stop transmitting, vs the TDU3 which is common during brief breaks between transmissions.
