EDITED 7:41AM 6/18 - I am a total scanning novice. I am looking to upgrade my late 1990's vintage RELM HS200 portable scanner to something that can handle modern-day split frequencies and other nuances (that I don't know about yet). Don't know what I should even buy yet. One thing for sure that I know I want is text alpha tags so I know what I'm listening to. I live in Prescott, Arizona where dangerous wildfires are a real concern. So, I need to know to whom I am listening.
I like the idea of programming the scanner via computer. However, I do not own a PC; my home office network is only MACs. Can I program a scanner with MAC? I see no mention of an MAC software for this.
EDIT: If I cannot program via a MAC, how do I update firmware?
