The first thing you should do is to download and install FreeSCAN programming software on your computer: Downloads - Sixspot Software You will also need to install the driver for your scanner to be able to communicate with it. Here is a FreeSCAN file for Mitchell County to get you started. This file has all of the Mitchell County talkgroups on the NC VIPER statewide trunked system. There are no conventional frequencies in this file. The second file is a PDF file which will answer all of your questions about using quick keys. There are 2 sites in Mitchell County (Locust Knob and Woodys Knob). Woodys Knob will be your best site. It is right at Spruce Pine. The Locust Knob site has a system quick key of 1. The Woodys Knob site has a system quick key of 2. You will be able to toggle each site on and off by pressing 1 and 2 on the keypad of the scanner. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with FreeSCAN. Connect your scanner to your computer. Click on the Scanner tab and Upload Programming. Select Erase All Systems & Settings (In red). Click on Start Upload. You can unplug the cable when programming is complete. Quick keys as follows:

SYSTEM QUICK KEYS:
1. VIPER LocustKnob (Site)
2. VIPER WoodysKnob (Site)
GROUP QUICK KEYS:
1. MitchCo Services
2. MitchCo Interop
3. MitchCo EmergOps
4. MitchCo Fire/EMS
5. MitchCo EMS/Hosp
6. MitchCo Sheriff
7. MitchCo Local PD
8. NC St Hwy Patrol
