I have a Pro-2096 and have programmed it with programming cable 20-047. I also purchased a Pro-106 and tried to program it with the same cable but it will not go into the clone mode, I checked for the most recent drivers for the programming cable and they are installed.

Read this page at GRE-Guru Don Starr's site, especially the line that states:

The RadioShack version (and possibly the GRE version) comes with an "adapter" - a stereo-to-mono adapter approximately 4 inches long. That adapter is not required for any GRE-made scanner, and it must not be used with the PSR-500 family scanners.

Yes, I did read that and was not using it but while checking the devices window for the cable the com port was set to 13 and needed set to 7.
Thanks

2096 requires the mono cable - the 4" dongle add on cable, The one black stripe on the connector
106 requires the stereo cable - without the 4" dongle. The two black stripes on the connector

I have programed many Pro-197's ,106's and 96"s with the 20-047 cable and have never had a single problem. I am also useing ARC-500 and ARC-96.
