The Phase 2 reception on the PSR 800 was terrible. The upgrade improves the P2 decoding quite a bit (in my area anyway) and you get DMR to boot.

You will use the WS1080/WS1088 programming software and be able to do updates with the latest Whistler firmware. The upgrade also makes your scanner eligible to be serviced by Whistler.
