Does any one have suggestions on how to program the RCS? I have a BCD396XT and am using Freescan. I imported the system from Radio Reference(only selecting the groups I am interested in), but it is unwieldy and takes quite a while to scan through. Also I am getting little CHP traffic through it, and I was under the impression CHP used the RCS channels frequently.

I would appreciate any guidance offered.

I program RCS North and RCS South into two separate "banks", then add the talk-groups I want to hear for each area into separate groups in each system. Some agencies/talkgroups can be heard on all RCS systems, while others are relegated to only one. For instance, NorthComm is on North only, Heartland is on South only, but CalFire is on both.

I am assuming you are in the general normal San Diego county areas.....there is an EAST RCS, but unless you are way way way east, everything that is on it can be heard on North and South systems anyway. As for programming, it would probably be simpler and more rewarding to simply program the systems in yourself. Just create a new system for north and south, throw in the four control channels in each system, select splinter, then copy and paste or type in the talkgroups and names you want. :)
