I bought the programing cable for my PRO 95. I thought it would work with my laptop, but the end the plugs into my computer is the exact same thing that is on my computer (both are "male" or "female" ends, not sure which is which, but they're the same).

Does Wal-Mart or Radioshack make a part the will allow me to either use the port or a USB port?

Any help is appreciated.
THANKS!

the part of serial cable end with all the "pices" sticking out
are caled male..........

go to radio shack or wallmart or best buy etc. and tell tem you have to connect to males or female...or you can take the cable with you and say this is the same on both the cable and notebook

Are you SURE that is a serial port on your laptop? All DB-9 serial ports should be male on the PC and cables should be female. You may be looking at a monitor port (which should be a HD DB-15 - High Density DB-15 - the same size as a DB-9 but with 15 pins. It would be a female on the laptop) or some other kind of connector?

Joe,
It is probably what you're talking about. It is on a laptop.

So now that we got that part figured out, does anyone know if I can get an adapter from somewhere that will allow me to use a USB port?

There are many of them. You want a USB to serial adapter. They are plentiful and cheap. OR you can get a PCMCIA serial port. I'm assuming you have PCMCIA ports on your laptop. Those are the 3" wide 1/4" tall slots and most laptops have two stacked on top of each other.
