Programming Cable Difference

This has probably been answered already, somewhere, once upon a time, but I cannot find it with the forum search engine.

Is there a physical difference between the GRE cable and the Radio Shack cable other than the color?

I have the Radio Shack cable and use it all the time with both my Pro-97 and my Pro-197. If I were to buy a GRE scanner (considering a used PSR-500) could I use the RS cable?
