How do I program a Uniden BCD996P2 using Freescan and Radio Reference if a Trunked system has more talk group ID’s (TGID’s) than the scanner holds?
I also want ID Mode set to ID Scan so I can see the talk group display name displayed on scanner. (Like, Lake Sherriff HP1).
For instance, programming/importing a RadioRefence trunked Illinois system using Frescan, (File), (Import). Then (RadioReference Trunked). (See Example below).
State (Illinois)
County (Lake)
Site (Lake County- Simulcast)
Group (Lake County)
If I program into one trunked system, I get the message 316 TGID’s in the system (Over limit).
The Uniden BCD996P2 Seems to be limited to 200 TGIDs in a system.
Is it wise to split into two trunked systems to be able to have programmed half the TGID’s in one system and the other half of the TGID’s in another?

Am I doing this right? Efficiently?
Also, what if I want to monitor more groups? (See Example below).
What’s the best way to accomplish this? Suggestions?
State (Illinois)
County (Lake)
Site (Lake County- Simulcast)
Group (Lake County)
Group (ISP Zone 1)
Group (ISP Zone 2)
Group (Lake County)
Group (IDNR Region 1)
Now one last question……
What if I want to monitor a second county with ID Scan. Like McHenry County?
Should I program a separate Site?
Or can I monitor McHenry County in previous example of Lake County listed above by just adding the McHenry County groups I want to the Lake County Simulcast site?
Example….. McHenry County- Simulcast.
Then the three groups I want.
McHenry County Fire/EMS
McHenry County Law Enforcement
McHenry County Government.
Thanks.
