I recently purchased the Uniden BCD996P2 and I'm having issues with receiving the Monroe County Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) P25 Phase II digital system for our local fire departments. I am receiving the police but, not the Fire Departments. There are 5 towers on a Simulcast system. I've been using Freescan to programming (see attached program). I noticed that I have to copy the Fire Department digital information from Radio Reference to the clipboard and import them. They don't import nicely like the Law Enforcement.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I'm not using any information from the P2 Channel ID Table so, could that be part of the issue?

I am new to the whole Trunked P25 system and I'm just learning how to program with the free software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only scanners designed for simulcast systems are the Uniden SDS100 and 200, any other scanner is likely to have issues with the signals. There are tricks you can try but none are guaranteed, your success will depend mainly on your location. Please read these RR Wiki pages and do a search in the forums for "simulcast" and you will see hundreds of discussions about this. You are not the first.

There are 49 fire tg's, are you interested in some, or all of them?

That's a good sign.

Not sure the issues but Freescan will not import/download any of the 49 fire talk groups for me either. I did choose just the site (Monroe) and both fire and pd tg's only, so its not a limit restriction as seen when trying to import the whole system..

@ProScan software imports all of Monroe County (site and talk groups) without any issue.

Proscan offers a 30 day free trial and I believe Butel does also. Both programs are much better than Freescan. Not saying it will overcome any reception issues, but will download/import perfectly fine.

Thank you for your quick response and reference material.

Thank you Dave! I really appreciate you digging into Monroe County and running some import tests. I'm going to start with Proscan now to see if I have any better results. I originally was trying to listen to all 49 Fire Talkgroups but, tried to reduce to help improve. I'll let you know the results this weekend.

If your receiving police and not fire, and they are on the same system, same site, sounds like a programming issue.

Especially since the fire talk groups would not import.

Have you tried either proscan or butel ?
