programming MCS2000 and RIM-II

I am new to the Motorola radio stuff.

Trying to program an MCS2000 radio and a RIM-II module for Control Channel monitoring ONLY.

Does the system ID and other "trunking" settings matter when a radio is configured as an RF-Modem??

I have configured the Control Channel Freuency and have selected RF-Modem in the MCS2000 set-up but do not seem to be getting the Control Chanel data output I would have expected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
