How do I know what to put to pick up Sacramento County Channels? I know we are on a P25 system but is it trunk one frequency or?
Also freescan says it downloads to my scanner but it's not there.

Welcome to the RR forums. Your county's trunked radio system is linked below. Talkgroups ID'ed as mode "D" in the database are clear. Mode "DE" talkgroups are encrypted full time and cannot be picked up by any scanner. Carmichael is smack dab in the middle of about 6 cells of the Countywide Simulcast so you'll probably face some degree of simulcast distortion with your BCD996XT.

Sacramento county (police, fire, etc) is largely on this P25 system. It is a trunked system. I highly recommend using software to program your radio. You'll find a lot of information regarding trunking, your radio, software to program it and many other things in the Wiki here. I also feel the need to mention that the Sacramento P25 system is a "Simulcast" system. The reason that I mention it is because your radio won't properly handle signal reception (YMMV). Just know you could be missing calls and/or stuff will sound garbled -- kind like it is encrypted but it isn't.
