I'm wondering if somebody can help me out with my new Pro 96 that I just purchased. Radio Shack c"loned" my scanner to the one they had in the store with all of the local greater Cincy area frequencies.
However, I want to be able to hear OSP posts on the new MARCS system.
Here's what I did...I took and found an empty channel in bank 8 of my channel; channel 48. According to the listings I have found online here, Post 13 is on the frequency of 868.0750, that is what I punched in. Now I also see another number of "32064" listed. When I programmed in the 868.0750, I picked up Post 8 Georgetown. Is this possible? Now I have picked up Post 13 units as well, and when I do, I look and the display shows the 868.0750 frequency and the "32064" on the display.
I am new to trunking scanners, and am not sure that I completely understand all there is to programming. Here's another dilemma I'm having.....while on SR 32 in the Batavia area I am able to pick up both post and car traffic. But if I am over on SR 125, I cannot. Also I see a number in the lower right hand coner that usually stays around 5% or less. Is this the signal strength that I'm pulling in? Does this make sense? Do you have to be getting a signal from a particular tower before you will hear trafficin a certain area?? Could my location be affecting this or do I need to program another frequency in, in order to hear traffic when I'm over on SR 125?
I am sorry to sound like a complete dunce here, but I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Thanks!!
