I just checked my existing favorites list and everything is OK. Now, I am going to start adding the DMR conventional frequencies and trunked system to it. Please let me know if you need any help programming for the trip.

It would be far easier if you attach your favorites list programming file so I can look at everything. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to zip the exported file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

To confirm, the WEC teams that use NXDN are all conventional not trunked. The FIA Frequencies are NXDN Trunked but don't bother with those as they are all encrypted. The TETRA teams (most of the Hypercars) will also be out of reach for your Uniden, but are unencrypted if anyone has the right radio to listen in. I recommend scanning the pit channels, often they are much more insightful on what's really going on especially if a car hits an issue.

Really appreciate the info, I've setups the system as conventional and entered all the 2025 NXDN frequencies / RAN for the car repeaters and pit channels.

I heard it might be possible to pick some trackside broadcasts up too. Would be nice, last time I was at COTA I couldn't hear the PA system at all. I'll scan analog for those.

There is something you may be able to help with. For the Univ of TX Tyler DMR trunked system, the site notes show color code 1 but the site frequency table shows color code 0. It would be great if you could check off the air or contact someone in your area to find out what the color code actually is so I can finish the DMR programming. I started a thread in the Texas forum but have not received a response. University of Texas at Tyler Site: Confirmed LCN

I received a response from the TX forum that the color code for the Univ of TX Tyler trunked system is 1. Now, I'll be able to complete the DMR programming.

Here is your Sentinel favorites list file. The Smith Co Trunk system will scan all of the time. The Smith Co Conv, Smith Co Jail DMR, Bullard ISD DMR, Chapel Hill ISD DMR, Troup ISD DMR, Tyler ISD DMR, and the Univ of TX Tyler DMR systems will all be scanning. Those systems are on quick keys which can be turned on and off. The conventional DMR frequencies need to be entered as DMR One Freq Trunk (OFT) to gain access to TGID and slot and thus are actually separate trunked systems. When you first write the file to the scanner, only the TxWARN Tyler site will be scanning for the TxWARN statewide trunked system. That will give you everything in your local area. The other 4 sites in Smith County are programmed and can be turned on and off as needed using quick keys. Please let me know once you have the file in Sentinel and I will talk you through how to write it to the scanner. I will also give you info about how to turn quick keys on and off. and how to add a quick key to the favorites list. Squelch should be set to 2. Save the attached zipped file to your scanner and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it: Smith Co TX Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, open the extracted file. It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel. Any favorites list, system. department, or site without a quick key (None) will be on all of the time. Quick keys as follows:

Mate you are a legend! I've been listening to only the TxWARN but you have a lot more in here. If I have time before my trip I'll load it up tonight, but I'm drving out tomorrow. It might be early next week when I get a chance to sit down with the scanner.

Sorry to hijack the thread... I didn't know you could assign the same quick key to multiple departments. How does that work?
I assume all depts using that quick key will be toggled on / off at the same time?

Yes, you can assign the same quick key to multiple systems, departments, and sites. That is not true of favorites lists. Each favorites list must have its own quick key. Systems, departments and sites with the same quick key will all be turned on and off at the same time. Systems and departments/sites each have their own set of quick keys. Departments and sites share the same set of quick keys.

Yes! Trip was great. I was able to pickup trackside audio and also at LOT of the team comms during the race. As I was warned, I couldn't find a race director feed, I assume those are encrypted as list on the wiki.

I picked up a 3.5mm to Bluetooth adapter and was able to connect 2 pairs of Bluetooth noise canceling headphones. Both and and a buddy were able to listen to the scanner. Worked out super great.

@tvengr I've been using your favorites list and it's working awesome also. It's really nice to be able to quickly use the quick key list you posted to filter and scope it to what I want to scan.

There are a couple of things you can do now. First, I would like you to add a quick key to the favorites list. If you are not using 0, that is the best choice since it is first in line. In Sentinel, go to the Edit tab and click on Edit Favorites List. Select the Smith Co TX favorites list and click on OK. Click on the favorites list (Smith Co TX) in the left pane. Go to the Options tab and set FL Quick Key to 0. Go to the File tab and click on Save. Go to the File tab and click on Exit. You can now turn the favorites list on and off by pressing 0 and then E on the keypad. I notice that you have Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in Tyler. If you would like, I will give you instructions how to add another department to the Smith Co Conv system and how to add the ATC (Air Traffic Control) frequencies. You can use Dept quick key 6 for the airport. You will need to put an Avoid on the ATIS frequency since it is a continuous transmission. You can scroll to it on HOLD to monitor the airport info. How far are you from the airport?

From what I have seen on this thread, the monitorable frequencies are all conventional, so the answer is yes. The BCD160DN is not capable of trunk tracking. You could still enter trunked frequencies as conventional, but communications will be bouncing around a lot.
