I am new to Proscan and can stream and control my BCD996T (remote scanner over ip) but I am having trouble with streaming the audio. My windows 10 & windows 11 laptops only have a built in mic's and a combination headphone/mic jack's. I can get them to stream with the built in mic's but not the 3.5 combination jack even when I select different sound input devices. My scanner cable is the original serial cable with a Belkin USB adapter and the Audio cable is a straight 3.5 male to male, I have tested the audio cable on other devices and it does work. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You

{edit} If you're using the REC jack then the database systems Record parameter needs to be set for All Channels or Marked Channels. If Marked Channels then the channels needs the Record flag set.

Check that ProScan has access to the mic jack in the Windows Microphone Privacy settings like in the image.
After that, go to the Win Mixer and check that the input shows plugged in and enabled.
After that, go to the Audio Control - RSOIP tab then select the input. You should see the audio meter move with the scanner audio.
If you want scanner audio out of the computer speakers, go to the Audio Control - Monitor & Test tab then select RSOIP then click the Loopback box.

I still cant get it to work with sound. It does show mic currently in use with proscan, and both mic's enabled in windows mixer but then I go to Audio control RSOIP its greyed out in capture. This is windows 11 with a shared mic/headphone jack  Screenshot 2023-07-10 201857.pngScreenshot 2023-07-10 202015.pngScreenshot 2023-07-10 202441.png

It's grayed out to prevent selection.. When the RSOIP server is off then then it will show in normal state. I don't think that's the problem.

Look at the Win Mixer audio meter circled in Red. If the meter doesn't move with scanner audio then trace the problem from the scanner to sound card.

Are you using the REC or EXT SP jack?
Are you using a standard 3.5mm stereo cable?

it may be my audio cable, should I be using a 3 or 4 pin audio cable ?
I don't know without doing a online search. I thought you said the cable worked with other apps.
You never did answer my question. Are you using the REC or EXT SP. Jack?

I am using EXP SP jack
I think that's the problem. The EXP SP jack is a monaural type and you're using a stereo cable. The REC jack is a stereo type with the the left and right channels tied together so not a problem connecting a stereo cable to the REC jack..

I did a quick google search and I found this.
Can you plug a stereo cable into a mono jack?
The mono jack has a tip and a sleeve, and where that sleeve is overlaps the stereo jack's ring and sleeve, so plugging a stereo jack into a mono plug effectively shorts your right channel to ground at the source, giving you a left channel only.

Finally got it to work with the attached USB sound card, not a audio cable problem. Must be a setup issue with my laptops and/or the built in mic/headphone jack. Thanks again for all your help.Screenshot 2023-07-11 234320.png
