Provincial Fire / Echo -1, PPSTN

Hi All
Newbie question. Is there a way to listen to our local fire channel Echo-1 (In Saskatchewan)? Any suggestions on what equipment would be required?
I believe it is a VHF digital signal. The portable radio's used on this channel are Motorola XTS-2500. I am not sure if the transmissions are encrypted or not.

Not encrypted.

A digital scanner that does P25 Phase 1. Check Kijiji or e-Bay, there should be used scanners of that generation that will let you listen in.

My Uniden BCD996XT works great. With my outdoor Discone I'm listening to EMS.
