Anybody copying the PSP chase of the armed robbery suspect in Philly? 1800-1830 and beyond.
Passenger in a cab tried to rob the cabbie while the cab was going down the highway*. Cabbie called 911 and PSP units were dispatched to intercept the cab which was still moving down I-95. Cab ended up at the Airport Hilton at Island and Bartram with suspect fleeing on foot.
PSP Norristown CDC notifed PPD and PSP Media cars. Also tied to request PPD Tac Air 1.
I heard the first flash for the call go out over PPD about 15 minutes after the incident started...not sure if this was an updated flash or if it actually took that long for info to flow.
I am having a lot of trouble getting a decent signal for PPD's system from my location this evening.
PSP dispatch had all cars swtich from Channel B to Mobile-Mobile, but then had to switch everyone back because the dispatcher could not hear any of the troopers using M-M while on foot. Even on Channel B, dispatcher had to continually ask units to repeat their transmissions. I'll bet they're chomping at the bit tonight for OpenSky...coverage likely would have been better in this location.
Anyone able to fill in holes or correct anything here? Would have liked to hear this one a little better.
* - the broken flash I got from PPD sounded like the guy may have robbed someone and then fled in the cab...looking for confirmation on what exactly happened here.
