I picked up a PSR-100 today from scanner master. Just your basic scanner, but a very nice little unit. Excellent reception and the sound from the speaker is loud and clear. No static and no hiss at all. Now I also have a Pro-82 and this new PSR-100 is like night and day, it is a better radio all around. The signal stalker works very well and the radio scan speed is good. I was impressed with the size of the radio, it is smaller than I expected and nicer looking also. So easy to program and use, I am very satisfied with my purchase. If you are looking for a basic scanner I would highly recommend this little power house radio. It gets the job done.

I have one as well and have to agree that it is a fine radio. The antenna is a bit loose on the BNC but I swapped another in it's place and it is snug, strangely enough, the loose antenna is snug on the radio I swapped it to (Pro-75). Kind of annoying as the other antenna does not look brand new, but I guess being tight is worth the trade off.

If you go to your local hardware store and pick up a #8 rubber O-Ring it will fit and work great and keep the antenna nice and tight. Just slip the O-Ring over the BNC connector and then slip the antenna on, nice and tight.

Yeah I tried a few O-rings but they were all to tight and made it hard to remove the antenna easily. I use mine mostly in the car with an external antenna so I am taking the antenna on and off a lot.

I am getting one of these:

It is a couple of inches shorter and hopefully will fit tight. As I said I rarely carry the scanner and listen with the duck so this one should work well enough for strong local signals.

Is the antenna loose on your new PSR-100?

Fredg, Thats a nice looking antenna and hopefully it will perform good. Let me know how it works and if it fits tight on the radio. My stock PSR-100 antenna is slightly loose, that is why I used the O-ring and now it is nice and tight. It does make it a pain in the butt to take the antenna off and on, but I hardly ever remove mine so it works for me. I like the shorter antenna, I might just order one of those. I have an Austin Condor antenna that is 13" long and works well. It is just a little too heavy for the little radio if you know what I mean, it could fall over easily if I'm not careful. So I am using the stock rubber duckie for now until I find something else.

Went to radio shack today and purchased one of their antennas, part #20-283. It is advertised as an 800MHZ antenna.....But it works excellent and pulls in some really good signals. It also fits tight on the BNC. It is about the same height as the stock rubber duck but much thinner and IMO much better looking too. Here is a link to the picture......

Got my eBay antenna today. It is very nice. The length is perfect and looks really good. It also fits nice and tight.

As far as how it recieves... I have not really had a chance to test it. I also picked up the stubby RS race antenna, that antenna worked better than I thought so I would bet this one works even better than it.

I only use the duck here in my house for local strong signals from my little town PD and it could be a couple of hours before they say anything... LOL
