Is it my imagination does the radio just ignore the delay value for conventional freqs ?

I have tried CTCSS on, off, messed with the secret CTCSS/NAT/DCS values, i have turned the delay on, off, i have even tried to make the value 20000 and it just takes right off ignoring the setting.

anyone else notice this ?

Are you programing by hand or with software?

Have you selected ON for delay as well as entering a value such as 200?

i am programming with software...and i checked the delay box and entered 2000, 3000 and even 20000 for the delay with no luck...

When it stops on an CONV freq it just resumes scanning immediately regardless of the delay setting, time, CTCSS or otherwise...

Change a couple of your CONV freq delays to 20000 and see if it does not just resume scanning immediately after transmission stops..

BTW it does not do this in trunked freqs...the delay seems fine...it just seems to ignore settings in CONV freqs..

Your numbers seem a bit high, according to the manual (page 103)
you can only enter a value of 1-200 in the delay value i.e. 40= 4 seconds

your are absolutely correct...and when manually programming the radio, you will definately see that...a value of 30 on the radio is a value of 3000 in Win500 programming table...BUT despite that....it still seems to ignore whatever value put there 30, 40 , 200 on the radio or 3000 4000 or 20000 or 200000 in WIN500 and upload it.....when a CONV freq with a valid CTCSS stops transmitting, the radio ignores any value and resumes scanning immediately...this is particularly annoying when the FD is toning out a run and right after the plectron tone ends the scanner takes off scanning and ignores the delay even when I set it to the maximum...

Are you absolutely sure that the delay is "ON" for that freq.? The display is showing plD and not pld ? Cap "D" is on , lower case "d" is off.

yep - the D is on...in uppercase...does yours do the same thing as mine ? change a busy channel in CONV to max delay, with a CTCSS and priority ON ( a different channel)

for example turn the priority on for another channel in CONV....then choose another CONV freq with a CTCSS and put the max delay on it...then watch and see if the scanner sits there for the max delay after the transmission stops or if it does not in fact ignore the value and take right off scanning ...lemme know

I have around 20 or so conv freq's with PL's and 4 sec delay on each. They are working fine. Are all the ones you have programmed doing the same thing or just one??

yes all the CONV freqs seem to ignore the delay value
and again the have a 30 (in programming manually on the radio itself) a 3000 (in win500) and the delay is on (Big letter D as opposed to a small letter D) ....try different values...up the max and see if it does not delay the max

Yes ,I see what you mean... with priority on it seems to disregard the delay settings and resume scanning. However this only happens when Priority is ON.The delay works fine for regular non-priority conventional scanning on my PSR-500.I have not been able to fix this by adjusting my global priority settings either.

thank you very much so i am not crazy ! I guess i have to decide which is more important ..priority or delay.. one thing i can do is turn off the priority and and put 500 copies of that priority freq in the 20 scan lists....that would help during scanning - but not when stopped on an active freq..funny i am going to see how it acts when stopped on a TRNK group. right now i have "Priority interrupts talkgroups" NOT enebled and the delay is fine ....which is in line with your observation. Perhaps enabling it would cause the delay to be non-existent across the board...

I am going to coin the term "Priority Delay Bug" on this one and give you half the credit ...lol...

I just checked my list of fixes on the next CPU Update and it has been corrected. I am Beta testing and that's why mine isn't doing it.
