Maybe this would be better in the tavern, I don't know (mods?) but I thought it might be neat to have a thread with some real images of the radio and the different colors it's capable of displaying.

Most of us have only seen the Corporate advertisement illustration.

I hope to have mine tomorrow but it might be interesting to some that are still waiting.

I should be receiving mine from Jeff at the Hamstation tomorrow (Friday). It was my intention to take some in depth photos of packing, accessories, and of course the radio itself. I will do so as soon as I can, but someone will likely beat me to it.

Could a mod please move my resized images someone was kind enough to upload to the post-release PSR-500 thread to this thread, instead?

Right clicked on your images and saved as.

Edit: If these are not the correct images, I'll delete.

I posted these photos on the release page to begin with. I deleted them from there so I could put them here. Sorry for the confusion. Just my state of mind. :D

The quality is a bit poor as I had to reduce the files to fit.

The first two deal with my issue of the 400MHz trunked programming. The last shows a screen capture for York County Sheriff. Note that I have the LED working. I had the scanner in the car last night and that LED is BRIGHT. :D

I'll take more later unless someone else posts some.

Wasn't the front plate supposed to be black or dark gray? It looks silver in the pictures.

Per request, a couple of more shots of the scanner. One with the boot up screen, one (blurry) with back light on, one with a CONV system locked in, and one just scanning some of the systems.

The front plate is silverish and the rest of the case is black (or a very dark grey).

Mike, that was it, just never used these numbers before. Thanks

I am very greatful to all who posted their images, but I would even see more value in posting it to a video site such as youtube.com. Is there anyone willing to post their scanner, in action even, on youtube or something. It would be great to see the PSR-500 in action.

I did a search for it already and all I come up with is the Yamaha PSR-500 keyboard. Not what I would like to see.

Here's the side by side with the BCD396T, as requested.

Wow that is bigger then I expected. For some reason I thought it was going to be about the same size as the 396. Bummer.

Nope, it's the exact size and shape as the PRO-97. Personally, I find this to be a good thing. It makes it much easier to handle and operate. It's really laid out well and it makes it easy to navigate the buttons.

Yes, the 500 is a bit bigger than the 396 but it is also smaller than the 96. For carrying around on a belt, I think I prefer the 396, audio in the car, the 96 and 396 seem to run hand in hand.

For carrying around by hand, I like the 500. The #@$%^ piece of metal to hook up to the belt clip on the 396 is (literally) a pain. I also like the speaker location, I can carry it a couple of ways without blocking the speaker with my hand.

The velcro on the back of the 96 is to hold the scanner on the console while in the car.

The PSR-500's case looks VERY similar to a Pro-97's case.

The belt clip is a carbon copy of the Pro-97's..
