I received my new PSR-500 today and it works great, with the exception of the spectrum sweeper function. When testing it out here by transmitting on my 2 meter ham base station @ 45 watts (emitting from a rooftop antenna), followed by an FRS walkie-talkie (no more than a watt or so), the scanner showed no signs whatsoever of finding either transmission. I’m doing the search via the dedicated spectrum sweeper mode (Function + Scan), and have both of the bands in question selected (137-174 and 406-470). The squelch is at a normal setting/not turned up too high. Am I possibly overlooking a step somewhere? No other local transmissions have been found thus far either. Certainly hoping I don’t have a faulty unit here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you try this with the attenuator on? Maybe you have a high output RF signal causing Spectrum Sweeper to miss?

I use it daily on the PSR-400 an a discone antenna to listen to air band frequencies and have not had any issues.

I have the same problem. I receive transmissions from repeaters that are .5 to 1 mile away, but nothing close up. Mine works more like a high-speed search. It's nothing like the Signal Stalker in my Pro-83.

Has anyone else out there noticed the same thing?
