Okay I added that one, but I fear I may not hear it depending on where it is. Right now no T... I can assume it's a "must have"?

let me repost this because if think it's the key
Back in the day, I knew a guy who needed help getting his Windows 98 PC unborked a least once a month. And every time while I was fixing messed up file associations and other crap, he would be right there telling me "No, that's not it, you need to do <randomUselessThing>..."

I asked him why, if he knew so much, was I always being summoned to do the work. He had no answer to that. And here you are, so confident that your scanner is broken, that GRE effed up, Radio Reference effed up, and the members here who are trying to help you are effed up and have withheld vital data, like those nonexistent frequencies outside of the 140-144 MHz range.

I can't help you with your problem. I'm not familiar with GRE trunking gear and I don't deal well with newbies. Even less so with noobs. I can only suggest that you stop being that guy I knew. Learn how to program your radio. Follow the advice others are giving you. Follow it to the letter. When they ask for screen shots, provide them. Why does this even need to be said?

if that don't work i sugest trying adding freq by hand to see if that does the trick sorry if this is a repost

here is the info needed the freq listed is for the missisauga tower
primary is 141.4200 alternate 142.6650 to get started enter by hand on scanner make sure the band plan is set for canada or allow 5Kmhz steps 138-174 mhz in expert or extended settings on your scanner you can i think if it is the same way as my pro 106 hit pgm func F3 scroll close to the bottom should be there now save any changes you did then hit pgm again new talkgroup pick scan list then go to tsys hit sel type mot vhf/uhf go down to freq enter the aove freq witch i think may work for u hit save then scrow down to t table hit sel inter for table one-three lo chan 380 hi chan 759 table one offset is 380 base 141.0150 step 15.0 table 2 offset 579 base 151.7300 step 15.0 table three offset 632 base 154.3200 step 15.0 hit save then hit save again then hit scan this settings should get you started if the tower freq don't work find the next closer tower to you and just follow these steps again i don't think you need limit search

Thanks, but I'm going to let GRE deal with it, I've paid for accurate info, programming etc... If it's this difficult, then it's their problem to get me through it.......... I'm no dumbie and I find this completely outrageous and they will be hearing from me... until it's working.

Let me know how that works out for ya :) In the mean time if you want to sell me your broken scanner I could offer you $150 for it.

try using win500 it might work for you to see and type in the freq and t tables and send it to your scanner that way to see if it works you can get the expert settings that way below attachment is a screenshot of my expert settings for fleetnet if you want to try win500
Thanks for the file animal, but it won't open.....

Weird, that fileanimaljr43 opened for me first click. Do you have a Word program on your computer to view it?

Also hey spaztic_typer- I really think the first part of your username suits you to a "T". ( Urban Dictionary: spaztic ) People here are doing nothing more than trying to offer you sound, correct advice. Actually, I am rather surprised some are still attempting to "walk you through this"- I've seen other new members join with a better attitude than yours and get shut out by the 3rd post....

I have a Pro 106 and a Pro 197 (same scanner, just rebranded radioshack, and the pro106 is a portable version) I rather dislike programming those buggers- but it is possible. When I say I dislike programming... I mean to convey I don't get/understand what I am doing/how to program in Fleetnet stuffs. If it was not for the programming software, well, I would not be able to listen to that system.

Also I have no idea what you are doing wrong, and I would like to offer advice, but alas, others here are more knowledgeable than myself, and have offered a wealth of information already. So, I'll offer this:

I use this software for programming. GRE GRECOM RadioShack PRO-106 PRO106 PRO-197 PRO197 PSR-500 PSR-600 PRO-106 PRO106 PRO-197 PRO197 PSR500 PSR600 Software

I've (in the past) been able to literally use that software, with a paid membership to this site, and simply "click/select/download" the information (towers/data) to the scanner, and it worked. Other than having to "select xx bank" to monitor, I literally did not have to press any other buttons on the scanner. (other than the lock out button when some talkgroup starts chattering I don't want to monitor)

My best suggestion for you at this point if it still does not work- if someone with better knowledge than myself is still willing to help you- see if someone will offer you "remote assistance" using a program like "teamviewer". (TeamViewer - Free Remote Access and Remote Desktop Sharing over the Internet) That way, they can access your computer/scanner and see how you have set up your scanner. Failing this, screenshots (how to: Learn how to make a screenshot / take-a-screenshot.org ) is really your only other viable option, unless you meet face to face with someone at a coffee shop.

Wish you luck, and if you are still sick of the scanner, WZ1 was/is not joking with his cash $$$ offer... ;)

Good morning gentlemen, YES I did lose my mind, I again want to thank every one for there input. I see in a few posts, that there are freqs in the 150's (controll channels?) I have to moniter also. These I haven't loaded, so I'll figure that out and report back. I'm also going to stick the scanner in the car on the way to work today and see what happens.... I did change my settings to Canadian band plan as it was suggested. I've just downloaded the tower freqs and talk groups, so with some luck, once I set it up for the 150 freqs I'll be laughing, in stead of whining.I just want to make sure before I proceed on that indeed I have to set a scan? up in the 150's?

No more whining......

I dont think you are whining I just think you really arent getting what we have to say.
You still dont get it, even though you were given step by step directions even though I offered to look at your software settings to see if there was an error.

I asked you to send a screen shot here because then everyone who is familiar with your scanner would then be able to tell you right away I am sure, what you are doing wrong but:

If you as you say, drive around with your scanner why would it suddenly fix itself?
What does frequencies in the 150's mean?

There is only one tower where you have to worry about this, Mowat, a tower you probably will not be able to listen unless you head towards the city.
Even then the only thing you have to do is make sure, and I am telling you this for probably the 5th time, to make sure that you have the scanner programmed with the base, spacing and offset's as follows

Custom Frequency Tables

Base Spacing Offset
141.015 15.0 380
151.7300 15.0 579
154.3200 15.0 632

If you put in Toronto's Mowat tower you will have to put in the base of 154.320, the spacing of 15.0 and the offset of 632. If you dont want to use the Mowat tower you could get away with putting in the base of 141.0150, the spacing of 15.o and the offset of 380, i.e the first line of this list I cut and pasted for you.

As Kris asked, how many towers i.e. how many control channel frequencies do you have for the OPP? Kris mentioned that you have a limit of 32, why dont you put in the red and blue frequencies for the following towers on this page
Site five B-fad 142.245, 142.605
Site nine Mississauga 141.420, 142.665
Site twelve Guelph Woodlawn 143.100 141.975

If you want you still have room to add a few more towers, this you can figure out on your own, which towers you will be near, King City, Mowat, Fonthill, Charlton Cedarwoods, etc.

To answer one part of the question, right now I have Mowat, Balliafad, and Brittannia, These are with all the GTA talk groups. All downloaded from this site, so I'm pretty sure those are all right, I haven't set up the Custom Frequency Table you're showing so I'll do that tonight, As for a screen shot, I'm not sure how to do that, but I'll start with the custon table, and go from there.

Custom Frequency Tables

141.015 15.0 380
151.7300 15.0 579
154.3200 15.0 632
these are the freqs I was asking about when I was referring to the 150's

Again thanks

...As for a screen shot, I'm not sure how to do that....

Again thanks

Are you joking? Wow.. I mean.. uhm... heh.. I'm at a loss of words to properly convey... ......

Did you even read/properly comprehend what I typed in my last response? (or what others have conveyed over and over again in their responses....)

I gave you a DIRECT LINK to information on how to take a screenshot... its even highlighted in BLUE since its a direct web link.

Here it is again .... right below this text.

Learn how to make a screenshot / take-a-screenshot.org (click the blue text to the left of this black text- it is a weblink to another website with very simple/basic instructions on how to take a screenshot)

Good luck on your quest. Maybe scanning isn't a hobby for you... I'm thinking a few classes on this subject may suit you better: Interpersonal skills - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just click print screen and bring up for paint settings in the accesories then paste as a jpeg. I took the liberty to print to screen how to program your scanner .

Your welcome, add in Guelph Woodlawn and in some of the London area 6 series talkgroups like 8416 Wellington 6 Tango.

sorry my mistake EJB is right, i was on the go at the time and replied quickly

Kris: Charlton is Hamilton, Edgar is Simcoe Co.

As Kris said, just put in the C/C's for the following towers, B-fad, Brittania, Charlton, Fonthill, Guelph maybe, Woodlawn and see what you get.

Missing a step?

Hi,
Just a "modern" trunking scanner new guy myself (my last scanner you put in crystals for the frequencies you wanted to listen to), but I had a similar problem not long ago. I got my scanner(s) around x-mas, and it wasn't until the beginning of March that I figured out how to get OPP working...on either the radioshack scanner, or the GRE. I had the base/offsets correct, was getting the talkgroup ID's to show up, but not getting the voice channels.
All I was missing was the third step, setting it to "table".
Once I found the sticky's, and followed them "exactly", I had my Radio shack scanner chattering away on all the bell fleetnet towers I put in. Five minutes later, my GRE was doing the same :)

Take a deep breath, read the sticky, and it will come. Then you can spend countless hours organizing all the available stuff into various profiles :)

I had the same problem with my Pro-197 I threw the radio in the car and it started working. When it was in the house it was showing a strong signal on the display but that was false so try another antenna can't hurt also i found ARC500 was downloading from the RR database wrong freq for the towers. Maybe a arc glitch i went to Win500 and it seems to help alot more also try turning on NFM. Hope that helps..
