Official PSR-600 Pre Release Thread

Acccording to grove-ent.com , the PSR600 has not gained FCC approval. Does this mean it will not be for sale at all? Or will it just take a while?

Until the FCC gives it approval, it won't be manufactured, or sold. Don't know what that date will be though.

Should be FCC reviewed and approved by Nov 09, 2007 from what someone at GRE told me the other day when I was having my 30 min talk with them on the phone.

I just wonder if it will have all the issues of the psr 500?And if so will gre will release it anyway..?

By the time it's released, the issues will probably be worked out. And if they don't update the firmware before shipping, the end user can do it fairly quick and easy.

Remember, the issues are for some systems for some people for some specific things. The whole rest of the scanner works great for the other 90% of the people....

They didn't release 500 with known issues, so not sure what your question is here for.

Unless it's to instigate.

Maybe he meant "known" as in known to us at this time, not GRE.

Maybe it didn't translate through text the way he meant it.

Still seems like a strange question. The 'issues' are affecting a small part of the 500 population - I can't believe that they'd postpone the 600 based on that. And there's no reason to believe an update won't get the 500 up to par.

What is the difference between the PSR-600 and the PSR-500?

1-The case the scanner is in. One is handheld and the other is mobile.
2-?

The 600 is the base/mobile version. The -500 is a handheld.

Psr-600

I made a post regarding the Butel software here:

http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85538

Does anybody know if the GRE PSR-500/600 will be the first GRE made scanner that will decode digital modulation that will operate under computer control? I did have a GRE Optoscan years ago, but, of course, that was analog only. And I recall some using Probe software with Radio Shack PRO-2004/2005/2006 etc., but I never used one of those under computer control.

Also, are there any features that the PSR-600 will do that the PSR-500 won't do? I know it sounds like sort of a dumb question, but I have had Uniden Bearcats more recently and I just realized that although my BCD996T has temporary lockouts the hand held BCD396T does not have that feature.

The 600 will be the exact same as the 500 and yes, they are the first GRE digital scanners that are computer controllable.. :)
