Hello,

Has anyone ever had their 700 develop what feels like a sticky film over the rubberized parts of the case?
It feels like maybe soda or some sugary drink has been spilled on it.
But I know this has never happened.

I tried cleaning it with electronic wipes, doesn't do a thing.
Still sticky. I'm wondering if the rubber isn't breaking down.

GRScanner,

I don't have a PSR 700 but I have experienced the problem you are having with things like the rubber membranes of remote controls (like for TVs) What I have don't is wash them like crazy with a lot of rubbing alcohol after I've removed them. that usually does the trick. It seems to take a lot though. If you can't remove the membrane first, I'd be cautious of using too much though.

The rubbing alcohol could have been dangerous. Since I was experiencing the problem on an aftermarket TV remote I didn't have much invested in it and replacement would have been more of an irritant that a financial burden. As I mentioned I disassembled it before applying alcohol. I believe I used compressed air right afterword to dry it all out.
