PSR-800 locks up

Well, I'd like to thank everyone who tried to help. I appreciate all the comments and suggestions.

After farting around with the radio since about 6:00am this morning, I'd had it "up to here" with the thing. It almost took up flying (across the room) lessons. I'd been talking with a friend about it off and on this afternoon, and decided to hand it off to him. See if he has any better luck. I told him if he can get it working like it's supposed to work, which he brags he can (we'll see), he can "pay" me for it by buying me a good (and expensive LOL) dinner sometime in the near future.

Well, just as a follow up, my buddy was also unable to get the scanner working. It has gone back to locking up after the 'verifying data' screen.

Ah well, he gave it back to me so I'm just going to put it in a drawer for now and if my other PSR-800 ever needs a case or some other part, I can cannibalize the faulty radio.

I may have missed it in this tread but did you try the driver fix for windows. I had the same problem with mine and it came down to the driver thing. Once I got the computer seeing the scanner I was able to reflash it and all was well. If you can set the clock on the scanner with EZscan then the computer is seeing it. If the clock wont set the it's prob the driver issue I went through.

True, one works fine, but I never hook it up to the computer via the USB cord. I always take the microSD card out and use an adapter in the computer. The transfer rate is much quicker that way.

So, to answer your question JackdAnerson, yes, I did try the driver fix. It didn't help when I tried it. I think I tried every fix suggested and then some. Nothing seemed to help. Right now it's sitting in a desk drawer waiting to be cannibalized for parts when needed.
