Has anyone found a way to use either system id or connect tone to filter control channel messages from a "foreign" system on same frequency? I have programmed a number of sites from the NC VIPER system, but some of the distant sites use same control channel as my local Forsyth County trs, which causes a Forsyth transmission to DISPLAY as a Viper transmission on the Viper TG of same number as a Forsyth TG. I like to have the distant sites of Viper programmed for coverage as I travel.

Signal overload is not the problem. It receives a control channel signal on a frequency that is used in both systems. If it is looking at the wrong system it still decodes the signal as if from that system. If want it to check the system id or connect tone before saying it is from that system only based on control frequency.

Looking at the list of control channels for both the Forsyth P25 system vs the VIPER P25 system, none of the four Forsyth control channels appear on the VIPER system. Are you referring to the VIPER Motorola Type II system? If so, there should be no conflict if you have the systems programmed as their correct system types.

What you need to do is go through the list of frequencies for each system, paying attention to those you're having conflicts with, and delete all of the non-control channels for each system. There is no reason, for example, to have the VIPER system's voice channels programmed in the scanner, especially if they conflict with the Forsyth system's control channels. Eliminate all possible avenues for conflict.

I would like to know what specific frequencies you're finding conflicts with, and which specific systems you're talking about, just so I have a better mental picture of what is going on.

And to answer your quesiton, no...it will not look at SysID, Connect Tone (not used on a P25 system, by the way...you're probably thinking of Site NAC), or anything else besides an active control channel on a particular frequency, which it will then compare with the system type you have programmed into the scanner.

Your no answer is what I had come up with. Both Forsyth and original VIPER are type ii, only have cc programmed. 853.675 is also primary for Kings Mountain site on Viper. Maybe when Uniden gets rumored new unit out it will allow programming tone and/or a required sysid for each trs system (and I'd the site from data stream the way Trunk88 can so you can really know what site you are receiving on.

Oh that's my error, for some reason I thought you were talking about Forsyth County, Georgia and you were picking up distant signals from NC. I forgot there's a Forsyth County in NC also...that makes more sense now.

Yeah, not much you can do about it at this point with the same frequency on the same types of systems. The best you can do is leave the Kings Mtn site locked out until you travel down to that area. There's really no need to be scanning all those distant VIPER sites anyway if you're sitting at home, it'll just slow down the scan time.

If its at home you could use a directional antenna ,if its in the car you could try a non-gain antenna....
