Hi,

I sent my PSR-800 for the legacy upgrade a few months ago. It came back quickly with instructions how to set it up for the first use. Everything went fine for the updates at that time but I did not use it until today. EZ-Scan popped up for firmware upgrade (weird) and I accepted to perform it. It went to 100% and displays waiting CPU approval but it failed at that step.

Scanner displays: Error - Turn Off but I can't power it off. If I remove the batteries and put them back, It powers on in the firmware update screen. I have tried 3 times to reaply the update but no luck.

I hope it is just a softbrick...

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Psr-800/ws1080 cpu

Been so long since an update* for the WS1080 but I remember when we had new CPU updates you had to press "menu" button down at the same time you plug the scanner into the USB port of the PC to set it in update mode. *scanner off* of course.

I don't need to press menu it already boots up in CPU update mode. Can't turn it off. Batteries removed for 15 minutes now, I will try again later.

I have tried almost everything I could find here in the last hour before posting a new thread.

Man, that stinks. I remember when mine first did this ... I pressed "Menu" 2 or 3 times and it went back into clock* mode awaiting a new attempt. I also remember one other time ... reinstalling my old firmware and then new one and it all worked fine after that. Good luck. Listening to mine right now.

Ok I finally got it working again. I went to the Whistler website and downloaded the CPUUpdater_Legacy_U4.8_BOOT2.0 just like I did when it came back upgraded from the company. It is back on the track. It's weird because the EZ Scan software asked for a CPU update when there is no update available...

Thanks for your help.
