PSR500/PSR600: PSR600 won't take SAME code

My PSR600 absolutely will not accept weather SAME codes. I must be doing something wrong but what?? The display is there for entering SAME codes but the curser just blinks at me when I try to enter a code such as 027053. Any help would be very much apprecated.

Thanks, but on my PSR-600 entering in the code like you discribed doesn't work. The curser just blinks. Must be something wrong with this radio. It picks up the NOAA weather loud and clear but programming in the SAME codes just doesn't work.

Will the scanner accept a SAME code if you program it with software?

I have not tried that.

Just checked my Butel ARC500, under global settings, there's a weather tab, has a programing widow for "fips codes".
Not sure if that's what your looking for?

No, I was trying to enter the SAME codes using the internal program feature and buttons on the front panel. I resorted to win500 and entered them with it. I don't always have access to a computer and was wondering what I was doing wrong when all I got was a blinking curser when at the window for entering S.A.M.E. codes. I have the user manual and followed it item by item.

SAME uses the FIPS codes for identifying the county. From a user perspective, they are synonymous.

Thanks. I was able to input the SAME codes using WIN500. I don't know why I was not able to do it without a computer though. I should have been able to enter the codes from the front panel of the radio, A PSR-600.
