I have 8 sites programmed into my 396XT and I am just letting it scan through all of them. Should I be doing something different?

Figured it out, I think. Just sit on the control channel for a specific site and let it collect data.

Yeah, sadly Pro96Com requires a scanner to sit on a dedicated frequency in order to decode the information, which means no active listening. You may want to clean out your Tower.txt files and start fresh since it seems like Pro96Com may have been confused as your scanner was sweeping through multiple sites. Normally it shouldn't display multiple control channels for a single site.

It should be fairly sufficient to let your scanner sit on a single control channel for probably about 5-30 minutes in order for Pro96Com to get a good number of voice grant hits in order to verify the frequency channels assigned to the site. If one really wanted to hunt down all frequencies that a site might use, then logging a few days might be necessary. I don't believe long term logging is really needed in this case as it's really just looking for which sites have switched over and any possible neighbors of these sites that might have switched over as well.

Thanks for the data!

Looks like the newest sites on the block for Zone 6 include:
634/T0622 - Fowler (Directly logged)
642/T062A - Valley (634/635 Neighbor)
655/T0637 - Fort Lyon Correctional (634 Neighbor)
668/T0644 - La Junta (634 Neighbor)
669/T0645 - Arkansas Valley Correctional (139/634/662 Neighbor)

It's fairly interesting to see that none of the core City of Pueblo sites having been cut over to Zone 6 while almost every site around the city has.

It also looks like San Carlos Correctional (139/T0127) adjusted some of its alternate CC frequencies as well as modified some of the voice frequencies.

I posted it as a separate message since it wasn't related to Pueblo, but Saguache Peak in the San Luis Valley also changed to zone 6.

Yes this is how I usually log DTRS, if you scroll to one of the control channels the scanner will display it on the screen and flash all the activity as it comes across.

Fortunately with DTRS the control channel's rarely change. When I want to log a Harris System where the control channel frequently changes (i.e. the MARC system up here in the Denver Area) I do the following:

1. Program a new system with the following:
  • Sites: Program frequencies only for one site (if DTRS you only need the control channel).
  • Program in a talkgroup you know isn't in use (If the scanner receives voice Pro96Com doesn't decode. I found TalkgroupID 9999 isn't active on most systems)
  • Assign the newly created system a quick key that isn't in use.

2. Enable only the quick key of the system you just created and decode.

I haven't been paying attention and two more sites (far west of Pueblo in Zone-2) have moved to Zone-6. Thanks to Chuck, on the west side, for the info.

254 Saguache Peak in Saguache County (now 654) switched to Zone-6 sometime around July 10th.
Saguache Peak Site Details (State of Colorado DTRS)
This has been updated in the RR database on July 11th.

215 Bald Mt South - Buena Vista in Chaffee County (now 615) switched on July 21st.
Bald Mountain South Site Details (State of Colorado DTRS)
Will be updated in the RR database soon.

There have been quite a few sites going to zone 6. Anyone know who owns the other zone controllers? Doesn't Douglas County own a significant chunk of zone 1? The article I posted on the other thread about their new simulcast cells mentions a "new system".

Maybe they have convinced the other zone 1 steak holders to pull out of DTRS and form a new system or join FRCC or MARC?

If this is happening there would be quite a few zone 1 sites that would need to move to a new zone controller. Making room in zones 2 & 3 would make sense if this is the case.

Per the most recent CCNC Minutes (July 11), the plan for Zone 6 is to have around 40+ sites in total at the end of site migration.

I'm not sure if Erik is actively following this topic or if someone is submitting DB update requests, but it looks like Poncha Springs is listed as 669 (same as Arkansas Valley Correctional). If you are following, then is there a chance that we could also get the Site Notes field updated for Zone 6? This field is helpful when viewing the RR Locations map to get a feel of the geographical distribution of Zone 6. Most of them need the 3rd digit switched to 6 with the exception of Poncha Springs which needs to be bumped up by one (as the Site Notes field shows the Hex ID).

616 & 617 Changed Verdemont & Tenderfoot II

Verdemont (near Gardner) and Tenderfoot II (nr Cripple Creek) have both moved over.

I suspect that there are others, in SE that may have changed last week, but can pick up any of the sites that might show those neighbors.
