Been reading about this radio since it was released. Sold my Grundig as I mentioned in another thread, and decided to replace it with a 2200x. It is supposed to be here in four days from Hong Kong. I’ll believe that when I see it. Only way that could be possible is if it’s already in the U.S. looking forward to playing with my new toy.

I wondered about the "Texan" brand name so I started looking. Actually it's Tecsun (unless you're using spell check. Then it's "Tech son." :)

I have received items from Anon co in just a few days before really surprised me!

I have been thinking on one of those S2200X's also - I really do not need one - but I still want one!

Yeah, I don’t need one either. I have a Drake R-8, and a Tecsun 501, which is pretty much the same radio, but I wanted a new toy to play with. I don’t expect it to replace my Drake, but since my Grundig 800 was getting pretty long in the tooth, I figured I’d sell it while it was still working good, and replace it with the 2200x. The 2200x has a lot of features same features that the Grundig had and has newer technology. I figured since Tecsun actually built the Grundig for Drake, they probably have learned a lot about how to build a good desktop receiver.

We have a rule at my house that keeps the peace. If I want to buy a radio, I have to sell one of similar value. When I purchased my Drake, I sold my SDS200, when I purchased my Belka, I sold my DX-302. And now I sold my Grundig to buy the 2200x.

Once you get your 2200 the next thing you need is a good antenna - preferably away from the house to get away from the noise sources, of which there are numerous. This forum discusses this topic

Be sure to say something about whether you can put something outside, about how much room you have....all of these and more play a role

A good radio is nothing without a good antenna

Already have a 40 meter EFHW I have been using for a couple years years now. Before that I was using a T2FD cut for 40 meters. I spend a lot of my time just below the 40m band pirate hunting. If I want to roam on other non harmonic frequencies, I use a MFJ 1001 tuner. I am a general class ham, but as I mentioned in another thread, my license expires in March, and I have decided not to renew. I have been selling off my ham equipment ever since we downsized to a smaller house after I retired. I sold my Icom 751a hf transceiver, my Daiwa cross-needle meter, my WW2 code key and my beloved Astatic 10DE7 Silver Sideband mic two years ago to buy a brand new SDS200.
After two months with the SDS, I sold it to purchase my Drake R-8. Only ham equipment I have left is a Ubitx QRP HF transceiver kit radio.

My Plans when I get the S2200X will be just as a portable with Whip. I have a number of Rigs/Receivers with Outdoor antennas and attic antennas.
But I need to get taxes done first to make sure I do not owe the .gov folks!

Well I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it. Purchased on Thursday at 12:30 PM, and arrived today at 1:30 PM. Four days as promised from Hong Kong. I have never received anything from China before in less than two weeks. Wow! Well my first thought after opening my new radio was “This radio is going to take up a lot less space on my nightstand than my 800 did.” Seems to be well constructed but lighter than I expected. Now to find out how it performs.
