• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is it on the MOL website? I signed the general software license on Wednesday. Do I call and place the order now?

Once you have received approval on our software license, you can order it by phone or, if you have the part number, you can order it online.

MOL has a neat credit card option for paying for things, too.

I'll try to look it up right now, but you're looking for ASTRO25 CPS. Going to be RVNsomething.

EDIT: RVN4185 (R15 appears to be the latest version, RVN4185AJ, but there is also R16.00.00 (AK) and 16.01.00.00 (AL) listed as unavailable but will be shortly). On my MOL account, it says the earliest ship date for R15.00.00 is 27 Oct and "Available" is "N". Not sure whether it is available or not - I don't use MOL too often these days.

EDIT to EDIT: I just noticed that's ASTRO25 MOBILE. Not sure if portable comes bundled with mobile for them. RVN4181 is the portable version. AK is R15.00.00, AL is 16.00.00, and AM is 16.01.00 - same things apply as in the above paragraph as to availability.

RVN4181 is the correct software. If you purchase through MOL, the system will only let you buy the most current version. It is a three year subscription so when the new release comes out, you just download and install it and keep on going.

I just bought the CP/CM software, and it had the N in the availability field, too. But it is supposed to ship by October 27th so I am not sure that N means No.

there are 3 part numbers when dealing with astro25 software.

One for portable
one for mobile
and one is combined.

Each one individually is like 250ish however if you think you might need mobile, Use the combined part number and get both for around 350ish.

Cool, thanks for the clarification on the part numbers. I'm not seeing any of those on my MOL account probably due to the fact that my license is still pending approval, but now I know what I have to search for.
