To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Yep, your standard Baofeng cable works perfectly. Have you seen Quansheng Dock? You can actually control the Quansheng Radio with a windows app, pretty fascinating stuff, that's because the Quansheng's allow for all kinds of custom firmware, some even have a spectrum analyzer. You only need that custom cable if you want to talk from your PC, otherwise the rest works with the Baofeng cable.

However, if you install that firmware it doesn't support Chirp, but it has it's own built in way of programming your radio.

I used it for a while, but now I use the ==> IJV Firmware it's so good in-fact I bought a second Quansheng.

I am getting No data received. Is the radio connected and in flash mode?

I plugged in the cable.. it is on COM3. I connected the radio through headphone speaker jack.

Holding the PTT button, I turned on the radio and it displays the white solid LED. In Chrome , I Flash Firmware and I get the error above? The COM3 device shows up, I select it, and get the error. In device manager it indicates USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM3)
Not sure what the issue is.

How do I download my frequencies with EGZumer?
Thanks
You would simply use Chirp, have you used that yet? Use Chirp Next. You can pull from RepeaterBook in there and if you have a Premium Radio Reference account you can pull from there, all within Chirp. Just use your cable, but don't hold the PPT when you start it, then go into Chirp and choose the right radio and Com port

See Download - CHIRP

I am using the EGZumer firmware. I have used CHIRP with Baofeng radios. But I selected the radio in CHIRP, follow the directions on the screen, I get a No Response from Radio. I assume you have to download to creat the radio image.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you choosing the right radio? The Quansheng UV-K6 is probably what you have. The K5 works for that too

Yes, you first have to choose "Radio" then "Download from Radio .." delete any of the stock channels you don't want, which is all of them, he he, but maybe keep the weather, if there is Skip on that be sure to set that on the Weather or it will stop all the time when you are scanning

It looks like I have to shutdown the hardware between uploads and downloads. I have the cable plugged into a docking station USB port I may try moving it to a laptop USB port and see if it is a timing issue.

Thanks again!
