• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Quantar Simulcast error at all sites

Hello,

So I have a strange error that just started appearing at all 3 of our Quantar simulcast sites when reconfiguring them for simulcast. "WL CTRL SIMULCAST 1PPS 188 SWARE INVALID LAUNCH TIME". Everything works and transmits when we turn off the simulcast, but obviously, the audio is totally garbage as we have transmitter overlap in areas

We have 3 sites each with a single quantar connected to a conventional atac 3k. everything is in astro/p25 mode. We don't do any analog. Everything is connected via v.24 to the atac via serial over IP. Our IP network is a dedicated MPLS fiber network. We have the 10mhz and 1pps all connected to GPS receivers.

This is not a public safety system. It's just for general business use that spans across 3 small cities. We decided that we wanted everything on a single channel and not have to change channels when we moved from one area to another.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did the system ever work in simulcast or are you now "reconfiguring them for simulcast." for the first time?

Did you 'stage' all the equipment first in one place to verify operation before installing in the field?

Yep, the quantar at the comparator is in the same rack with a cross-over going directly between the two. 1PPS looks good on the o-scope. no errors on the comparator. I even re-tuned the Ref Oscillator on the comparator.

This is a re-config. Everything worked before we turned on the simulcast, matched all the TX freqs to the same, and re-tuned all the filters.

Is simulcast enabled in the comparator & is the simulcast launch time delay in the comparator set high enough to cover your worst case network delay?

In the Quantar codeplug under Service->Alignment->Astro Simulcast Test Pattern section is the desired launch time offset set to zero?

Are all the Quantars running identical firmware? There's issues with simulcast & mixing firmware versions.

simulcast is enabled on the comparator launch time is set at 4ms higher than our highest average link delay. all stations are on R20.13.017. All station simulcast is set to zero. default transmit steering address is 3F, comparator is running ver R03.19.001. I got good HDLC link to everything and no errors on any of the v.24.

"It hates me now! LOL!"

Are you working from the GPS simulcast installation manual?

Here are a few pages that may prove helpful.
