I know Derby is over, but I guess I am going to try and find a Rad Shack pro-96 finally. Wifey actually approved purchase...Yea me....Any hints or directions??

Sorry..I know off topic

I would go for the BCD396, it has problems at times and I hate sometimes, but it does Trunk good, APCO sound is iffy at times, but I would not be surprised if Metro has some 700Mhz frequencies too, and the 396 will track them just fine. Plus the LTR part for my neck of the woods. That being said, I would like a Pro-96 as back-up because they can be had cheap, but I'll probably end up with a Pro-97 because I'm cheap.

AL

PS, also receives I-Calls (Private Calls), the only place I really hear them is on the Ford plant system, so many I set up a separate system just for that. I don't know what Lexington system has along that line, but I would check it out if I could receive that system.

Just a guess here, but judging from some of the topics discussed on those talk groups (700-4 and 700-5), Sierra might mean Sanitation....

I have had WNYP413 (The Churchill "trunked" system) in my scanner for the past four years and have only heard it as conventional; Oaks morning is the first time I have heard anyone ID any transmission on any of the freqs--it was a test on Repeater 2 (858.78750)... Will have to add the Derby Museum as well...

I am going to add a Derby Listing to the Jefferson County data base as a category....

Yes that a good possibility. I heard them do "Post-1-2-3-4-5..." checks several times, but never heard any action on or out of them. Monday looks good for another day of Monitoring Churchill, so I'll see what else I can dig up, now that the excitement is over, and they are not thinking security so much.

Help me....PLZ!
I have gone back to the RCS system and changed the Derby talk group ids so they can be loaded via the internet (one of our senior admins pointed this out to me this morning).... this is the only Type I system I have tried to monitor and misunderstood the subfleet id set-up.... This might be why StinkyB had problems trying to monitor the program the system....

Anyway, if some of you who are close could compare your notes with what I have changed and let me know I would greatly appreciate it... I have the old entries saved so they can be reinstated as needed, but I had left the extra ZERO out of the mix because I didn't know any better... Sorry... and thanx in advance for the help!

unitcharlie,

That's exactally how I programmed the talk groups, so far It's working very well. The 57920, 59936 TG#'s default to 700-01, 700-05, which are allready listed. I also found TG#002-1, which is a Timo/Taxi Co. probably the same Co. as 002-2. I hope this helps!

THANKS! for the update

I am hearing all kinds of things on those channels. I keep adding more and talk groups and can't figure out what they are. I have also heard the sierra stuff that was mentioned.

I will keep on listening and see what I can come up with.

By the way Collier, scanner working absolutely awesome.

Thanx y'all....
Doug, glad your wife let you take the plunge.... now you gotta get her involved so she will let you buy more! Could the Sierra Units be the street sweepers? One of our fellow scannists in the Derby City said he heard them talking about the brooms and reloading their water tanks....
StinkyB: Have you heard the 57920 and 59936 IDs come up anymore? Wonder if it could be some kind of private call or something? Let me know if you track down the taxi company... I thought I heard some limos on thaose TGs (002-1 & -2) when I was there for the Oaks but couldn't find the drivers doing the talking....

Again, thanx for the quick responses...

Don't they water the track to keep the dust down, and instead of rake, call it a broom for the the elite crowd. Just thinking out loud.

unitcharlie,

I will try to figure out those 2 TG#'s, when I try to program them in to Win-96, or manually in my Pro-96, it changes 57920 to 700-01, and 59936 to 700-05. I saw on a other post I started(Talkgroup ID's in Radio Shack Forum) someone(fmon) told me to change block 7 fromS-04 to S-00, I think it will let me put in those 2 TG#'s in the different format, I will give it a whirl.

Thanx Danny... with all of us working on this we'll have it in place for next year's Derby....
Alan, we'll probably have to get a look at onew of the Seirra Units actually talking into a mic to figure out who they are...
again, all, thanx for the ears on this system!

Not sure how long it would take, but I will check with someone with Security and see if they would be willing to share some information with me on this. Maybe they would be a little more open by who I work for.

Also, the Security Director used to work for Louisville Police years ago.

I noticed that every hour on the hour they do a Sierra check and there appears to be about 33 0r 34 "units".

Inside info is always so awesome.... anything that would put this system in place would be greatly appreciated! Received a text msg from a fellow rr.com member in Louisville, he seems to think the Sierra Units are city street sweepers, he hears them operating what apear to be regular routes and doing clean-ups after events, etc.... he also thinks the "Sierra" is their unit number--as in on the street sweeper itself... who ever they are, they have a bunch of folks wanting to id them! A picture with a mic in hand of a Sierra Unit would be so in order....

Did the modification to the sub-fleet numbers help? Again, sorry about my mess-up with the Type 1 system, this is the first i have tried to work.....

I would be really surprised if they were Metro Street Sweepers for several reasons. One, there are about 30-35 of them doing status checks on the hour. I have only seen about 5-6 at the Logan Street garage. I am not sure that they have regular routes and are out 24 hrs a day. They are city workers you know...LOL...

unitcharlie,

No it did not help, I think you're right it must have been some kinda special TG#, but I will keep on monitoring. I want to help figure out this one, so I can program all the Derby stuff in, and close the bank, and hear only Derby stuff.

FYI...600-02 appears to not be anything to do with Churchill Downs Maint. It is sometype of Maint group but they were talking new houses and working on things around houses.

Also, found several other talkgroups that I am still working on identifying. They are 500-01, 213-01, 208-01, 1025-1. Also just heard 1056-1 that appears to be sometype of trash pickup or dumpster service.

Any help is appreciated as always.

I will keep listening.

Tg 700-04

Evidently the Sierra units using this TG have something to do with Brantley Security. I was monitoring their midnight "rollcall". Someone stated something about radios and the person doing the rollcall advised that Brantley 9 would come around and get the radio. Also, they mentioned something about a building.

Still working...

Also, heard more talk groups that I can't id yet.

0002-1
0110-1
208-01
213-01
600-10
0077-1...Possibly sometype of security
