Does anyone know the wattage of the ADSB transmitters on planes? I am only asking because I know it's a combination of height and transmit power as for distance. I am getting planes in New Hampshire and PA and I am thinking they must be pumping out some good wattage or I wouldn't be able to receive them at that distance

Like you said height is very important since the 1090 MHz signal is line of sight.

I ran into a very nice line of sight distance calculator.
Enter your zipcode and it will show you on a map how far you should receive aircraft at various altitudes.
