I hadn't realized this, but someone told me that you can do control-channel only scanning with the Pro-95 and 96. Can someone elaborate on how to do this? I tried to follow some basic instructions, like programming a known control frequency and setting it to MOT, but when you hit scan, you just see all of the IDs fly by and can't hear anything. Maybe I am just mis-understanding the point behind CC only scanning.
Thoughts,
Chris

You have the basics down. You need to enter ALL the control channels for the system you want to monitor. Most have 4 cc's. Make sure they are set to MOT (if that's what the system is) and make sure you have the bank set to open until you learn the ID's you want to monitor.

If you are trying to listen to an EDACS system you can't do cc only. You have to load all the frequencies in the logical order into the scanner starting in channel number 1 not 0

Hope this helps some.

Also if you do a search in the forums you will find lots of topics that discuss this

I see, so I was just missing the other control channels :)

So I put those in and then just hit scan?

Actually all you need is the active control channel; the reason you put any other frequencies is in case the CC changes, your radio will go to the new one automatically. Just putting them in and making sure they are set for Motorola (both frequency and bank) is all you have to do for 800MHz standard systems. In other words, as long as you are not trying to trunk track a VHF, UHF, 900MHz or 800MHz Splinter systems, that is all you have to do. If you are attempting to trunktrack any of the systems mentioned in the previous sentence, you still have set what ever parameters or band-plan, tables, etc. necessary for that system on which ever radio you are using.

Just for the record, the Pro-95 and the Pro-96 only do control channel trunk tracking on Motorola systems. Any other frequency entered in the bank is basically ignored (unless of course it is conventional). Of the GRE/Radio Shack Trunking scanners, only the Pro-92/2067 requires that all the frequencies of a Motorola system be entered.
