BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Question about LED for channels

Greetings,
I just got the BCD436HP today but already had the Sentinal software installed with favorites squared away. I've set the LED to be Blue(solid) for my local PD primary and then Blue(Slow flash) for TAC and Blue(Fast flash) for Info channel. Should the LED stay lit (or flashing) the entire duration of radio traffic (squelch break? I'm new to the lingo)?

The LED only lights for a few seconds. It's use will drain the batteries faster though.

It will only alert for the set time. It cannot alert the entire transmission.

To limit excess battery use, I only have the LED flash for specific priority channels.
