I received a private message last evening, however I did not receive an email alert as usually happens. The only difference between this message and that of all of the others that I have received was that this one was submitted wirelessly.

The system could have just missed sending me an email notification or there might be something about the wireless end of it that bypasses the normal notification system.

One other odd thing was that when I log in and also have an unread message, a box has always dropped down informing me of the message and asking if I want to open it in a new window. In this case, I wouldn't have known that anything was pending except that I glanced up into the upper right corner of the screen and saw "Notifications 1". It didn't even say Private Messages: Unread 1, Total XX.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

P.S. I have been receiving emails when new posts appear in forums to which I have subscribed.

Yes I too have noticed the Notification tag, this happened to me when I received my first (and only) visitor message on my profile page. :)

The drop-down box has always appeared with PM's (gotta remember to always allow pop-ups on RR )

I just performed an experiment.

When I sent myself a PM using my iPhone, I did not get an email message advising me of a received PM. When I replied to that PM using my computer, I did receive an email.

I wonder what the deal is with that.

Wirelessly posted (Woody's iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

After having it happen again, I figured it out.

I had to enter my email address in the SMS preferences section of my mobile RadioReference preferences.
