If the favorites list has a different name under a different profile (SDS100 or SDS200, ie) changing one favorites list doesn’t change both, is that correct?
The Favorites list names that you see in Sentinel are the same for any profile you create in that installation of Sentinel. No matter which profile you have open, if you change a name, the changed name will show in any other profile. You can, of course, copy a list to a new list, with a different name, If you did that (for simplicity call them List 1 & List 2), then any change you make in List 1 will not affect List 2. However, if they are all in the same Sentinel database folder, both names will show ion the Profile editor, but there you choose which list to download and/or monitor, and leave the other list (in that specific profile) set as Off for both download & monitor.

Now if you have two copies of Sentinel installed, on the same PC, then any name change you make will only be seen in the instance that you have open. That's presuming that you are not saving the favorites list in one hard drive location, with both installations of Sentinel using the same folder.

I think he was asking about my method of copying a favorite list and giving it a new name. I have Illinois State Police (SDS200) and Illinois State Police (SDS100). When I update Radio ID's, I copy and paste to both lists, but only have Monitor/Download On for the specific scanner.

To add to my workaround, once you copy the favorite list for a specific scanner, you have to go into Edit Favorite List, under the options tab you have to give it a Favorite List number. You then have to go into the Edit Profile, make sure Monitor/Download is set to ON for the specific scanner you want. When I do this and Write to Scanner, I usually check the box to erase all favorite lists so I start fresh. I also go into Edit and Sort Favorite Lists by Quick Key before doing that. Keeps it organized for me.

I do a similar thing on my lists. I have specific lists for 4 scanner model types (SDS & x36HP), with individual profiles to specify which lists are downloaded to the scanner, and which are set, by default, to be monitored. Of course, you & I both have seen quite a few posts where someone deleted one Favorites list that was not used on "Scanner A's" profile, then was surprised to find that the list was no longer there to be used in "Scanner B's" profile.

I discovered the Copy Favorite list by mistake, then took advantage afterwards. I recommend having a back up SD card with current programming then start experimenting with Sentinel. You screw up, no problem just load in the other SD card.

Yep. A back-up card is always a good idea to have. If you read through multiple posts here in the forums, you'll see a very wide variety of problems reported- scanner reboots itself, scanner locks up, and many many more. But in a high percentage of the cases, the fix that works most often is installing a new, properly programmed, card.
