Coat hangers and a spritz of Rust-Oleum. Keepin it cheap and dirty.

Agreed… I think the point was that anything OP has on hand will work, but that’s why I like brazing or welding rods. Both come in a wide variety of alloys and diameters and are cheap. Anything that performs well will corrode a bit, but mild steel is the worst for rust!
