• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Question for someone to give me help..

I'd be cautious with that 6 slot charger.

Most of these radios are fairly inexpensive, and the chargers are too. Often you'll have individual charger failures. Having all 6 chargers in one box can be a problem if one slot fails.

An easier approach, and what I did at a job 20+ years ago, was to take the 6 individual chargers that would come with the radios you buy and mount them on a board. Get a power strip and plug into that.
Benefit is that if one charger fails, you can just replace that charger, not the whole thing.

Multibay chargers are nice when you have a lot of radios, but they can be a hassle. I've got 6 slot Motorola chargers where one slot is dead. Sometimes users forget and drop a radio in there and expect it to charge.

OK but can somebody answer my question. Is that single radio that’s on their main website the same ones that I’m trying to buy that’s in the five pack

Has your boss considered just downloading a walkie talkie app? Assuming everyone on the job site has a smartphone and there is a 4G or 5G signal at the job site, Zello available for both Android and IPhone will give you license free communications that are closed to anyone looking to interfere and listen in or talk and also you won’t get regular analog interference.

No... it doesn't appear to be the same. Your first link (the model RT27V five pack) shows MURS radios; your second link shows an RT27 (no V) FRS radio. The MURS radios are VHF, while FRS radios are UHF... not the same. It looks like you need to find another Retevis RT27V model as your sixth MURS radio.

OK, I'm officially confused. I thought he was asking about the charging base.

@JimBobTerp can you clarify what you are asking?

They appear to be pre-programmed with specified FRS frequencies. If you're willing to talk on the FRS "band," these should work but don't expect much range. That's the nature of FRS.

That’s fine I don’t think I need that much of a mile radius anyway from where I’m gonna be working at to communicate to the other people

A mile radius is probably the absolute limit and I wouldn't count on it with any regularity. FRS is not know for it's efficiency.
