Icom: Question regarding my ancient Icom battery charger

I recently dug out my old Icom IC-2AT and BC-30 drop in battery charger. That charger was specifically for the BP-3/4/5 NiCad batteries that originally came with the HT. In the last forty years, the world has moved on to NiMH batteries and I am wondering if I can use the BC-30 charger with the replacement NiMH BP8 battery that I bought on Amazon.

As always, any thoughts or observations would be appreciated.

Not advised. The old CM/BC-30 were meant for use with Nicads. They are pretty harsh and heated up the cells. It might be better to use a newer charger (if you cand find one) or a battery case like the BP-4 and charge them on an approrpirate externam NiMH charger.
